Hi Mike Rickert. Thanks for the comment. I understand your frustration but you don’t have to feel that way. Like I said in the post, this is not a hand-holding tutorial to build a complete chat system. It requires you to have experience working with Rails websocket and ReactJS custom library. This is only an example with the main ideas highlighted; if you know what you are doing, you should get it. I understand you said you have built 4 Rails apps and some websocket gems, but to be honest, you might need more experience (and perhaps some determination) to make things work then.

I built this project with a friend of mine who had absolutely no experience working in the industry as a programmer at all! He learned ReactJS and Rails all by himself and from the projects we worked together. He got it pretty quickly. If you had experience like you said you do, I believe you can do it too! I also shared this post to a programmer friend of mine across the globe and he got his to work too.
