I actually have a similar setup with a specific user used for deployment; and the Rails app is deployed to that user’s folder. I don’t have to type in the password at all since I had added a ssh key (of the Jenkin server) to the allowed list in the deployment (Rails) server. This is so that my deployment server will trust the Jenkin server to run the deployment script. I guess the issue you are having might just be because you have not set up this permission?
